A drug based on the design of a Purdue University researcher to treat Alzheimer's disease began the first phase of human clinical trials this week.
"Millions of people suffer from this devastating disease and treatment options are very limited," said Arun Ghosh, the Purdue professor who led the creation of the treatment molecule. "Current drugs manage the symptoms, but this could be the first disease-modifying therapy. It may be able to prevent and reverse the disease."

This book I found on the lower-level was interesting because it gives an insight on Alzheimer's disease in the eyes of those being diagnosed. It tells the story of a male who gives account of his slow transformation and deterioration. It is really a well-detailed story for someone to know what is going on in someone's life.

Alzheimer's Disease
Over the course of this year, I have been investigating on Alzheimer's Disease and I think that it is very useful for people to recognize it. Alzheimer's Disease is a progressive syndrome that effects the brain in memory loss. The obvious stage is memory loss, but the disease can also affect the behavior of an individual. It affects the older generation in the mid 60's begins the first stages.

Kobe
This is Kobe, starting off week 2 of my new job and I have to say week 1 was fun. I meet some very interesting people, who could help me out in the future. I think that week 2 will be a little bit smoother as far as work goes.

Felicia
I met this great woman today named Felicia at work. When I saw her today I instantly knew we were going to hit it off. She was funny, real, and helpful. I even watched her movie on youtube, which was funny as well. I hope I can spend more time with her soon and go on a "date" with her too.
Kobe
One reason I title my blog Kobe is because he is one of my favorite basketball players and around school everyone calls me "Kobe". That is just an insight on way my blog title is that. Yesterday when my mentor Cheri Smith came in she wanted to know about me and the topic I was going to study. I chose Alzhiemer's Disease because it is a rising disease that know one knows about. It is killing the older generation, without them knowing what hit them. Some people believe that it is part of old age, but it is not. I would boarden this subject by explaing how it effects all people and shorten it by saying how the diesease effects the African American community. Today Cheri and I are going on a "date" at 1:00 so we can know each other a little better. Maybe she likes Kobe too.
